Oak Park Heights sits nestled between Stillwater and Bayport and serves as a gateway to visitors of the St. Croix Valley. This quiet community offers miles of recreational trails that wind through city parks as well as residential neighborhoods and commercial districts. On May 27th, 1857, the village of Oak Park Heights was platted. In 1938 the area was redesigned and replatted. This new village would be called Oak Park Heights, and it was incorporated into a city in 1959. Like many other communities in the St. Croix Valley, Oak Park Heights offers a high quality of life, excellent school system, numerous parks, and superb healthcare facilities. Oak Park Heights is a very diversified community, home to a large commercial/retail area with many national corporations and local businesses. The businesses include: Andersen Corporation, Xcel Energy, the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Wal-Mart. Recent developments in the city include Boutwells Landing, and independent and transitional senior living community; S&C Bank; TCF Bank; and the Stillwater Area High School. The area also offers a wealth of shopping and unique gift shops. Year-round recreational opportunities are available through its park system, including 65-acre Valley View Park, which is rich in wooded areas, rolling prairies, and wetlands. |
